A gown to wear in one’s salad days ….
Herewith one more gown from the annals of advertising, this sent by increased (not a vegetable, a flower!) from the NYT. (Click on the picture to checked out the story.) seems that Wishbone salad dressing desired gowns made of … salad, as well as Chris March, a costume designer, made their wish(bone) come true. (Let’s leave aside, for the moment, that the product being promoted is a SPRAY SALAD DRESSING. I hope it works like spray paint, not just appears like spray paint, since the concept of youngsters buying salad dressing to utilize for tagging just makes me so happy I can’t stand it.)
I have to say, this is much much much better than the Celestial Seasonings dress, and, if I had gain access to to, say, a number of hundred pounds of discarded silk vegetables? I would be making something similar. (C’mon, do you believe somebody who gushed over this gown would balk at taking it to the next level?)
I like the overlapping lettuce leaves on the skirt — the bodice, I’m more “eh” on. Also, I don’t believe you should mix velvet as well as lettuce … charmeuse would have been a much better choice. velvet is a winter fabric, as well as vegetables are definitely summer.
Actually, I’d like to make a turnip dress, with a frilly eco-friendly collar, deep red-purple at the shoulders, as well as shading to white at the bottom. as well as then I would walk around all the time holding my breath, waiting on somebody to “get it”. Do people even eat turnips anymore? I mean, aside from effete infant ones? Me, I like a great turnip.
Okay, to sum up: marketing gowns are great press as well as make nice blog entries. Don’t mix velvet as well as lettuce. Question: who eats turnips?
